Free Online Personality Psychology Textbooks

Personality Psychology studies how our personal traits – our thoughts, feelings and beliefs, can impact our behavior. This discipline studies such concepts as free will, nature vs nurture, uniqueness vs universality, active vs reactive and optimism vs pessimism.

As you could imagine, there are numerous texts that cover each of the core concepts of this discipline and theories can vary greatly. As the world we live in continues to change, so do our core beliefs. Proponents of the different psychological schools disagree as to the role of the unconscious and the impact of childhood experiences. Freudians consider personality to be based upon the interactions of the id, ego and super-ego. Trait theorists, on the other hand believe personality is based on a discrete number of key traits.

We have found a number of free, online personality psychology references for you to use in your study of this subject.
