Online Physical Science Textbooks

Science textbooks have traditionally been among the most expensive books at any college bookstore. Sadly, many of them are out of date before they hit the shelves. The physical sciences do have a number of concepts that haven't changed over time but some topics are changing at a rate far faster than traditional, printed textbooks can keep up with. The good news for students is that a growing number of educators and scholars are producing science textbooks and offering them freely online.

My goal is to share with you a good selection of more lengthy works and textbooks that could be used by educators and students as a complete course or a quality supplementary resource for students.

As this section of Online Degree Discussion's textbook list grows, I will divide the texts into their specific sub-specialties. While I do have a stronger science background than most, please forgive me if I misfile anything. (Please do let me know if I've done so, so that I may place things in the appropriate categories.)

Like I have done throughout this resource, I invite educators, students and scholars to share with me any physical science textbooks that I may have missed. Please include any information that I may need to know to file it properly among the categories as well.
