Online Degree Discussion
A world of learning as close as your fingertips.
Michigan State University has announced a new online master's degree program for educators. The Master of Arts in Special Education degree program includes emphasis areas in Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and Learning Disabilities (LD). Michigan educators can earn a master's degree, a special education endorsement or both.
With the increase in the number of children diagnosed with ASDs, programs like this one will provide educators with specialized knowledge and skills to help children suffering from learning disabilities.
Students will be able to complete their projects and clinical experiences in their own classrooms. Courses can be taken at the educator's own home without having to fit formal classes into their already busy schedules. Courses will be conducted by MSU's special education faculty and students will be assigned an advisor from the faculty and graduate student mentors will also be available.
The Master of Arts in Special Education degree program will only be offered online. Some prior coursework may be given credit under the program and some students may be required to take additional elective courses in development, literacy, mathematics or technology. Students will need to work closely with their assigned advisor to create a degree plan that takes advantage of any previously earned credits, missing prerequisites and overall degree requirements.
U.S. News and World Report has continually ranked MSU #1 in elementary and secondary education. The College of Education consists of four departments: Counseling, Educational Psychology and Special Education; Teacher Education; Educational Administration and Kinesiology. MSU also offers a Special Education Doctoral Program.
